Changes to the NZ Certificate in Cleaning Level 3 with optional strands in Specialised Cleaning and Supervision

Kia ora,

We're emailing you because you have trainees enrolled in the New Zealand Certificate in Cleaning (Level 3) with optional strands in Specialised Cleaning and Supervision. This programme has been updated following a review of the qualification in 2020.

Enrolments into the updated programme open on 19 September 2022.

Key points to know:
  • Enrolments into the current version of the programme (version 1) close this Friday 16 September.
  • The current version of the programme expires on 31 December 2022. Currently enrolled trainees will need to have their assessments completed by mid-November to allow you to submit [successful] results by 31 December 2022.
  • We ask you to encourage your trainees to prioritise the completion of their programme before this deadline.

For trainees who can't complete version 1 of their programme in time:
  • They will be rolled-over into the updated version (version 2) of the programme.
  • They will need to complete up to 3 additional compulsory unit standards (see below*).
  • They will need to transfer any information from partially completed assessments from version 1 across to the assessments for units in version 2 of the programme.
  • Unit standards already achieved (via version 1) will be automatically recognised as achieved in the trainee's training record for version 2 of the programme.

Key changes with the updated programme (version 2):
The number of compulsory unit standards has increased from three to six. The three new compulsory unit standards are:
  • *US 9681 - Contribute within a team or group which has an objective (previously an elective).
  • *US 29384 - Demonstrate and apply knowledge of infection prevention and contamination when working as a cleaner (previously an elective).
  • *US 376 - Employ customer service techniques to accommodate customer behavioural styles in a workplace (new to the programme).
  • The credit value increases from 42 to 47 credits for the General Level 3 Cleaning programme, and from 52 to 57 credits for the Specialised Cleaning and Supervision strands (the average programme duration has also increased to accommodate this change).

Learning resources and assessments will be available on the Careerforce Resource Library (via iportal) and Aka Toi from Monday 19 September.

We will also be contacting currently enrolled trainees to advise them of these changes. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
