Important updates to the Youth Work
(Level 3) Programme

Kia ora

We are writing to you because you have staff enrolled in Careerforce | Te Pūkenga's
New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work (Level 3) programme.

This programme consists of nine unit standards. Five of these unit standards are expiring on 31 December 2023, as follows:

  • 16850:  Work with a young person as a youth worker in the youth development sector (5 credits)
  • 16856: Describe group work and leadership in youth work in the youth development sector (4 credits)
  • 16857:  Help plan, deliver, implement and evaluate a youth development project in the youth development sector (10 credits)
  • 22257: Profile Youth in Aotearoa New Zealand (3 credits)
  • 32202: Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the Mana Taiohi framework for youth work (5 credits)

It is strongly recommended that ākonga (learners) complete assessments for these five expiring unit standards by 31 October 2023 so that marking, any re-assessments required, and results reporting can be completed by the assessors before 31 December 2023.  We ask that you support your staff to complete their assessments.

Any ākonga that have not completed their assessments by 31 December will be rolled into the updated versions in early January 2024. Any partially completed work will not be carried over to the new unit standard version.

Note that
all learning guides and assessments for this programme are paper-based, so it is advisable to discard copies of any pre-printed material that you may have at the end of October.

Assessments
We ask assessors to ensure that you assess the expiring unit standards by 31 December 2023.  From January 2024 any results entered for expired versions will not be accepted.

New enrolments
Careerforce is continuing to enrol ākonga into this qualification, so please send any new enrolments for this programme through to us as normal.

Advising ākonga about the changes
We are contacting ākonga to advise them of the changes. See email.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact your Careerforce Workplace Advisor.

Ngā mihi
