As 2022 draws to a close, we thank you for continuing to push on with your training programme over 2022. We sincerely hope you get an opportunity over the holiday season to relax, recharge and reconnect with the people who are important to you. As essential workers, we also acknowledge and applaud those of you who will continue to work over the Christmas/New Years period.

Please note that Careerforce offices
will be closed over the holiday period, closing at midday on Thursday 22 December, and will re-open on Thursday 5 January 2023.

Below we've shared a few things to help you reflect on the year, and some of the things to think about for next year. We've also included a recipe for a quick festive treat!

Enjoy the holidays, spend time with your loved ones, and we’ll see you in 2023!

Finish the year strong

It’s that time of the year when we often reflect on the past twelve months.  We encourage you to take the time to think about what you’ve accomplished in your programme. For those of you who want to make some progress on your training programme over the holidays, here are some ideas.

Review how you’re doing

At the start of your learning journey, you would have been given a training plan. Do you know how are you tracking? It’s a good time to see where you’re at. Remember that you can track your own training progress anytime, anywhere.

For paper-based learners, simply login to
iportal where you'll be able to view and download your own training progress reports.

For online learners (Aka Toi users), you'll be able to see which unit standards you have completed, and which are yet to be completed.

Continue with your learning

You can still continue with your learning over the holiday break if you wish. You can access the Careerforce Resource Library via iportal, or if you're using our online learning platform Aka Toi, this is also available over the holiday period.

Need support with your training?

One way to keep motivated with your learning is to check out the many supports available on the Careerforce website.

The training support section of the website gives advice not only for new learners to help get you started, but for those already on your learning journey, to help you stay engaged and motivated throughout.

The Learning to Learn
resources have been developed to support you in your learning and study.

Plan for the year ahead

One of the benefits of on-the-job training is that you can progress at your own pace. You know best what you can achieve within your own schedule. Develop a plan for next year and set some targets about what you want to accomplish.

Add a bit of festive cheer with Santa hat strawberries

The perfect festive snack for your next family gathering or office holiday party. These Santa hat fruit arrangements by Julie Mulligan are sure to be a taste hit. All you need are strawberries, white melting chocolate, coconut flakes and mini marshmallows.

1. Remove the stem from the strawberry.
2. Add white chocolate to the bottom of the strawberry, dipping berry into bowl of melted chocolate.
3. Add your coconut flakes, by dipping strawberry into chocolate and then flakes.
4. Add the marshmallow, by dipping a mini marshmallow first into melted chocolate, and then place on top of strawberry.
